Thailand become enamoured by her after she appeared on The Voice (Thailand) in 2013. In 2015, the rest of South East Asia also began to swoon when she and her band, Jenny and the Scallywags, won South East Asia’s Project Aloft Star Amplified by MTV. Now, with her debut EP hot off the press, Jennifer Lackgren returns to Malaysia to perform two shows: firstly at the iconic music venue No Black Tie on May 17th, and then at the relaxed ‘Live@Aloft’ at Mai Bar of Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral on May 20th.
Jennifer, a Bangkok resident whose distinctive vocals and evocative songwriting have begun to turn heads across the region, will perform alongside Aussie indie export, Gabriel Lynch. Gabriel is an acclaimed singer songwriter with an underground, but extremely loyal following. RAVE Mag described as “the best male Aussie vocalist you’ve never heard” .
The pair, who met each other during Gabriel’s tenure living in Bangkok, will reunite in Malaysia for the show, as well as to commence work on an exciting new collaboration. Jennifer and Gabriel will be entering Petaling Jaya’s Maveriq Studios to record a track that has, up until now, only been heard live on the rare occasions: “Language of the Affair”.
The provocative song, which tells the story of a married man and his mistress grappling with the guilt and shame brought on by their affair, is scheduled for release in the coming months amidst great anticipation.
Jennifer Lackgren and Gabriel Lynch will present “Language of the Affair” in Malaysia for the first time as part of their No Black Tie concert.
Join Jennifer Lackgren and Gabriel Lynch at No Black Tie on May 17th. You can also catch Jennifer solo at ‘Live@Aloft’ at Mai Bar of Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral on May 20th.
